Christmas Portrait Contest

Like many of us, Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. My business is perfect, because I’m busy until mid December and then you are all finished with me until the new year! This is perfect, I can truly enjoy the holiday season.

One of our long time family traditions is a family photo in front of the tree just before church on Christmas Eve. Everyone is rushing and I’m fussing for them to hurry, and then in that one instant everyone is there, close together, perfectly still and smiling; that won’t happen but once the entire year. The camera freezes that instant and though it’s never perfect, we have it every year to look back on.

I’m challenging you to create that family portrait this year, whether it be before church, a family gathering or even on Christmas morning. Make sure everyone makes the photograph – even Mom. Figure out how to use the camera and what to sit it up on before time to take the shot as to avoid frustrations.

I’ll even make it interesting – submit your photo to me, kimberly@kimberlymcnabbphotography.com before the clock strikes 2012. I will choose my favorite family photo, and the winner will have next year’s photo on me – session plus $100 product credit. Use it for a spring portrait, fall portrait or even Christmas during 2012. Photos will be judged on creativity, expressions and quality. I may even throw in 2nd and 3rd place prizes if we have good participation. Remember your photo may be posted on my blog and Facebook.

I’m excited, I hope you will take this challenge. Don’t take life’s moments for granted; when everyone’s together and happy, snap it.

Not great, bad posing, no smile from Layne but I still love our 2010 Christmas snapshot!

What a great idea, Kimberly! If nothing else…you will have families taking pictures they might not have taken before. Now you have your work cut out for you…picking the best. Good luck! Elaine
